You can get to Darmstadt via the A5 (Frankfurt / M. – Heidelberg / Basel) or A67 (Cologne / Wiesbaden – Mannheim) motorways, which intersect 3 km west of the city (Darmstadt Stadtmitte exit) and the B3, which runs along Bergstrasse leads. The TU-Lichtwiese is located on the eastern edge of the city, so you have to cross the city using the signs “TUD-Lichtwiese” in the direction of Aschaffenburg and Vivarium.

All public parking spaces are chargeable (€ 2.50 per day). The parking ticket machines only accept coins and do not change.

Note: The street name was changed in October 2013. If you cannot find the address in your navigation device / route planner, please try the previous street name: Petersenstraße 13.

Darmstadt is an ICE station and a stop for IC, EC and Interregio trains in north-south traffic. Darmstadt is connected to the railway lines Frankfurt/Main – Heidelberg or Mannheim, Wiesbaden/Mainz – Aschaffenburg and Frankfurt – Erbach or Eberbach (Odenwald) (station “TU Lichtwiese Bahnhof”). From the main station you can take the new “Lichtwiesenbahn” tram 2 (departure: every 10 minutes, journey time approx. 15 minutes) in the direction of TU Lichtwiese to the terminus TU Lichtwiese/Campus, or you can travel to Luisenplatz and change there to bus line L in the direction of TU Lichtwiese.

The Lichtwiese campus is located on the eastern outskirts of Darmstadt, south of the Woogviertel and east of the Paulusviertel.

Due to the current construction work on the Lichtwiese (November 2019 to probably June 2020), there are restrictions on the parking spaces for bicycles.

Frankfurt Airport is 25 km away and can be reached in about 20 minutes by car via the A5 or A67.

At the airport, regional bus lines are available in Arrivals Area B of Terminal 1 and Arrivals Area D + E of Terminal 2.

The HEAG-Airliner shuttle bus (Terminal 1 and 2) takes you comfortably and quickly (journey time approx. 30 minutes) from the airport to Darmstadt main station, Luisenplatz and the darmstadtium convention center.

At the central station Darmstadt and at Luisenplatz, public transport connects to the campus. Take Tram line 2 or the bus line L (from Luisenplatz) towards TU Lichtwiese all the way to the last stop TU Lichtwiese/Campus.
