27th KGIS workshop of the IKGIS e.V. – Water-sensitive urban development

The annual workshop “Municipal Geoinformation Systems” focuses on current trends and developments in the fields of GIS and land management.

The 27th workshop took place on 06.03.2024 and addressed the three subject areas

- GeoInfoDok 7

- Municipal heat planning and

- Sponge city concept

Michael Oberauer (Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Hydraulics), Julia-Isabelle Ruopp (Institute of Geotechnics) and Rebecca James (Department of Land Management) also presented papers on water-sensitive urban development at the workshop. The contributions focused on the conceptual design and fundamentals, the transfer to and special features of existing roads and the application of GIS in this context.

The seminar is a joint event organized by the Institute of Geodesy at the

TU Darmstadt, the Laboratory for Geoinformation at Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences and the Institute for Municipal Geoinformation Systems (IKGIS e.V.).

Following the workshop, also in collaboration with the Institute of Geotechnics and the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Hydraulics, an article entitled “Rescheduling municipal roads for a water-sensitive city” was published in April in the 02/2024 issue of the specialist journal Flächenmanagement und Bodenordnung (fub).
